Carrying Light began with my interest in the repeated brushstrokes along the edges of the petals. As the marks accumulated, they began to create a quiet sense of light that seemed to come from within the painting. The layers of torn hanji, recycled newspaper, and acrylic became part of that process, allowing color and texture to work together as one surface.
